I wonder how many people actually make it through their first 365.
I imagine it’s probably less than 5%. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s lower than that. I also wouldn’t mind seeing statistics on how long people who end up crying uncle actually last.
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been wrestling really hard with whether or not I’d be able to finish this thing. And after quite a bit of time spent on the subject I’ve decided that it’s over for this time around. I’m not saying I’ll definitely make another attempt, but I’m not ruling it out completely either.
This project has served it’s purpose and I feel like maintaining this thing for the rest of the year, in spite of my waning enthusiasm for it, would undo some of the good it has already produced.
Don’t misunderstand this as me walking away from photography… quite the opposite, in fact. I’m still going to carry my camera with me everyday, and I’m still going to make photographs as often as I can. The difference is I won’t be doing it out of some misplaced obligation.
If you’ve bookmarked this site or subscribed to its RSS feed, I hope you’ll mosey over to my portfolio site at Hartman Creative Arts where I’ve been and will be posting the fruits that have been borne here. I’m also blogging there semi-regularly.
Thank you to the few regular visitors who’ve kept me on their radar. Thank you to the friends who pushed me early on when I finally woke up and realized how big a task this really was. Thank you all for understanding.
